Pets Get Cold Too

When I first brought home my baby kitten, Oliver, I never gave a second thought to him getting cold. Naively, I assumed that since he was an animal, he was capable of living in chilly climates. Although he had an abundance of fur, which I was constantly removing from my clothes and furniture, I found that he would often shake and shiver during the winter months.

After doing some research, I found out that despite their plush coats, animals are still susceptible to even moderately cold temperatures. I have never been an advocate of dressing up your pet in human clothing, so I decided to go the more traditional route and got Oliver a couple of cat blankets. He created a little nest for himself in his cat bed and doesn’t have any trouble braving the winter weather anymore.

Cat Towels Make Superheroes

Can you imagine if you had to lick yourself clean? A mildly disturbing thought, I know, but we’d all be a little dirtier – and maybe kiss a little less. But my point is that it baffles me to ponder over the fact that God made cats to hate getting wet. Not only will your cat claw the heck out of your arms if you try to put it in a tub of water, but because they’re sassy creatures to begin with, I doubt you’ll be seeing much of them in the next few days that follow.

So if cats are self-cleaning animals, what functions do cat towels serve? Is it really just a blanket that poses as a towel because the masterminds behind this invention know that it will never get wet?  I would encourage cat owner to use a cat towel as a cape. Think about it, cats are always climbing to the very top of the refrigerator or on top of the kitchen cabinets. Wouldn’t it make your day a little sunnier to see Mittens leap from a high platform and appear to be soaring through the sky momentarily?

If you’ve purchased any variety of catnip toys or catnip accessories for your cat, you know that they don’t have the same appeal for your feline after a few months. The incessant chewing and slobbering that it first incited has a way of stemming or stopping completely.

One particularly tricky item is the catnip bed. After your cat sleeps in it every night, it can lose its potency and, subsequently, its appeal.

So are you doomed to buy a new catnip bed every time your cat turns up its nose? Luckily, there are several easy and quick solutions.

-Try simply rubbing the catnip inside the bed together. As the herb rubs, it becomes reinvigorated and once again fully releases its scent.

-If that doesn’t work, add a small amount of fresh catnip to the bed. Again, rub the contents to “activate” the herb.

-If you still can’t muster any excitement out of your kitty, spray the entire bed with a liquid catnip oil spray. Kooky Kat Catnip Budz in a Bottle is one possible brand.

Even with all their fur, cats can also get especially cold.  It’s hard for anything – be it cat, dog or person – to rest if they are shivering.  That being said, it would be a beneficial purchase to get cat blankets.

I bought one for my cat and she absolutely loves it.  Now I don’t have to worry about her being jittery at night.
